Outdoor Arenas or Corrals
Arenas and corrals are a common collection point for unwanted plants. Arenas and corrals
work to catch the tumbleweeds and provide a nice perch for songbirds to defecate the seeds they have
eaten resulting in an unsightly jungle of tumbleweeds, noxious weeds, thistles, etc. Who
wants to have their friends over for riding, practice, or competition with their arena and chutes a
mess? Below are examples of the services Modern Weed Control provides for arena and corral
maintenance:
| 1. | Arena Sterilant: Applying a sterilant to your arena or corrals will prevent most plants from sprouting throughout the growing season thus providing a clean look. Sterilants should be applied late Winter through Springtime when there is sufficient rain to work the chemical into the soil. Please let us know if you have deep rooted trees or shrubs close to your arena or corrals when requesting this service. | |
| 2. | Arena Perimeter Sterilant: Application of sterilant only to the perimeter of the arena, chutes, or corrals. Sterilants should be applied late Winter through Springtime when there is sufficient rain to work the chemical into the soil. Please let us know if you have deep rooted trees or shrubs close to your arena or corrals when requesting this service. | |
| 3. | Arena Perimeter Broadleaf Selective: Applying a broadleaf selective herbicide to the perimeter of the arena, chutes, or corrals will work to kill the tumbleweeds, thistles, knapweeds, puncturevine (goatheads), etc. and leave the grass to grow. Please let us know if you have trees, shrubs, or flowers close to the perimeter when requesting this service. |
Driveways
Gravel and dirt driveways are a common collection point for unwanted plants and often we have fences
alongside the driveway which work to collect the tumbleweeds and provide a nice perch for songbirds
to defecate the seeds they have eaten. Driveways can be a maintenance headache if you want
to keep a manicured property. Below are examples of the services Modern Weed Control
provides for driveway maintenance:
| 1. | Driveway Sterilant: Applying a sterilant to your gravel or dirt driveway will prevent most plants from sprouting throughout the growing season. Sterilants should be applied late Winter through Springtime when there is sufficient rain to work the chemical into the soil. Please let us know if you have deep rooted trees or shrubs close to your driveway when requesting this service. | |
| 2. | Driveway Broadleaf Selective: Applying a broadleaf selective herbicide to your driveway and shoulders will work to kill the tumbleweeds, thistles, knapweeds, puncturevine (goatheads), etc. and leave the grass to grow. Please let us know if you have trees, shrubs, or flowers close to your driveway when requesting this service. | |
| 3. | Driveway Landscaping Preparation: Applying a nonselective contact herbicide to the driveway and shoulders will work to kill all plants present at the time of application... good preparation for decorative rock, bark, or new plants. |
Fencelines
Fencelines are another common collection point for unwanted plants. Fencelines work to catch
the tumbleweeds and provide a nice perch for songbirds to defecate the seeds they have eaten resulting
in an unsightly jungle of tumbleweeds, noxious weeds, thistles, etc. Below are examples of
the services Modern Weed Control provides for fenceline maintenance:
| 1. | Fenceline Sterilant: Applying a sterilant to your fenceline will prevent most plants from sprouting throughout the growing season thus providing a clean look and keeping grass and broadleaf plants from shorting a low electric fence wire. Sterilants should be applied late Winter through Springtime when there is sufficient rain to work the chemical into the soil. Please let us know if you have deep rooted trees or shrubs close to your fenceline when requesting this service. | |
| 2. | Fenceline Broadleaf Selective: Applying a broadleaf selective herbicide to your fenceline will work to kill the tumbleweeds, thistles, knapweeds, puncturevine (goatheads), etc. and leave the grass to grow. Fields or Pasture
| 1. | Custom Field, Pasture, or Rangeland: Every field or pasture will present its own unique challenge. Whether you want to eliminate wild mustards, noxious weeds, alfalfa, or clover for your horse's health or just to clean up a weedy hay field, Modern Weed Control will customize to your need. We are equipped to handle up to 30 acres in one morning, or any acreage as long as you don't mind ground application and multiple day application. |
Noxious Weed Control
Noxious weeds are difficult to eradicate. Most have been introduced from other
continents and have left their natural enemies behind. A plant without any disease,
parasite, or even animals willing to eat them often flourish and take over a landscape.
